Gallatin is the fastest growing county in southwest Montana. The county seat is Bozeman, which has a population of nearly 50,000. The county is known for it's world class ski areas and blue ribbon trout streams. Gallatin County covers over 2,500 square miles of mountain lands varying in topography and climate from temperate river valleys to snow-capped peaks and open ranch lands. Nearly half of all the land in Gallatin County is under public ownership by the Gallatin National Forest, State of Montana, Bureau of Land Management or the National Park Service. Our nations first and most beautiful national park (Yellowstone National Park) strethes across Gallatin County, making this a great place to visit!
